No, although we might not be earning much profits when we drop our prices way below market price, we do not need advertisements to cover the cost. Your web site is ad-free! Once again, we only drop the prices to increase exposure.

Yes, you can use your account for commercial purposes. The World Wide Web has become the most efficient and cost-effective means of making information available to the users of the Internet community and we encourage our customers to utilize such an enormous medium.

06. What is a Virtual Domain Hosting?

Virtual Domain Hosting means having your own domain name (http://www.your-name.com) without having to install expensive server hardware and software. With Virtual Domain Hosting, you utilize our server's storage space, however you are still professionally represented via your own personal Internet web address domain name (www.your-name.com) and by your own personal e-mail address domain name (you@your-name.com).

08. Can I access my domain address with or without the "www"?

Yes, you will be able to access the domain address with or without the "www" in front of the domain name. Example: (http://www.your-name.com) or (http://your-name.com) is acceptable, whichever you prefer.

09. Do you offer Internet access or are you an Internet Service Provider (ISP)?

No, Shinjiru is a purely web hosting company and we are not an ISP.

10. Do you handle the domain registration process?

Yes, we do. If you are transferring your domain name to Shinjiru there are no extra fees for that. Read domain registration.

11. What is Shinjiru's DNS information?

The DNS will be different according to what you ordered. The DNS can be obtained via a web activation form which is sent to you once you sign up with Shinjiru. The web activation form will provide detailed information on your account including the DNS, Email setup, FTP, Database etc.

12. Why do I see "Under Construction Page/Server Administration Page" when I type in my domain name?

The reason you see "Under Construction Page" is because you do not have your homepage named "index.html" or "index.htm". You must name your homepage "index.htm" to see your website up.

13. When I register a domain name who will have ownership of it?

When you register a domain name with Shinjiru you will have full ownership of your domain name. This means that you can move your domain name somewhere else or modify it however you want. You have full control over that.

14. Can I transfer an existing domain name to your servers?

Yes, just be sure to specify that you are requesting a transfer and NOT a new domain on your order. You should keep the service with your current provider while waiting for your registrar to complete the transfer process.

15. How long does it take before my domain name is active?

Once your domain name has been registered (or transferred, if applicable), it usually takes about 24-72 hours before it is active. All Internet providers must update their records (DNS tables) to reflect the new site's location. This is called domain propagation.

16. How do I transfer files to my web site?

Files must be transferred to the web server via File Transport Protocol (FTP) or your account's web-based Control Panel. If you need FTP, mail, or other Internet software, visit ZDNet Software Library. 17. How would I create Pop3 e-mail accounts?

Depending on the your hosting account type, you will have us create them or you can create these accounts through a web-based administration area that allows you to create, delete and modify your own mail settings. This includes Pop3 e-mail, e-mail forwarding, e-mail aliasing, auto responders, and mailing list. The process of creating an e-mail account is very simple. You would simply click "Create Pop Account" and then enter your username and password.

18. I uploaded my new webpage, but I still see the old one, what is wrong?

If you have just uploaded a new website, or a new file to one of your folders, and then you go to your website through your website, you may still see your old webpage, as your browser will be pulling information from your Temporary Internet Folder / Cache. To resolve this problem, empty your Temporary Internet Folder and go to your webpage and click the "refresh" button on your browser. This is applicable to Internet Explorer (IE) only. Users on Netscape should not have this problem.

19. Will I have unlimited access to update my pages?

You have unlimited access via FTP 24-hours a day. As such, you can create and maintain your web pages on your own computer and upload files to your web site at your leisure.

20. How long does it take to set up a new account?

New accounts are setup in less than 48 hours (usually less than 24 hours) from the time we receive your order. Once an account is set up an activation notice will be sent to you via email including your username, password. You can begin uploading files to your new web site immediately.

21. How is billing handled?

You have your choice of monthly or yearly billing depending on which plan you choose. Invoice will be emailed to you before it is due.

22. Are 3rd level domains (sub domains) available (anyname.mydomain.com)?

Yes, you can have a 3rd level domains (sub domains) installed.

23. Can you host domain names other than .com .net and .org?

Shinjiru can host any domain name. Shinjiru also provide registration services for many domain name extensions. Read domain registration.

24. Can I have additional domain names point to my current domain?

Yes, for a one time setup fee we can point a second domain name to your main web page. This is a great way to expand the marketing of your site.

25. How many FTP Accounts for my hosting plan?

You can set up as many FTP as you want from your main account.

26. Do you support Active Server Pages (ASP) & ASP.NET?

Yes, we do support ASP & ASP.NET.

27. I'm on a Mac can I use a Mac FTP program?

Yes, we support Mac FTP programs. All information on how to set up your FTP program to upload files to our servers is available in the control panel once you have an account with us.

29. Why can't I publish with FrontPage?

Make sure your account meets the following guidelines:

  • Your domain's DNS is pointing towards our server.
  • You are publishing to http://www.yourdomain.com
  • You have requested that your FrontPage extensions be installed.
  • You are using the username "root", rather than your FTP username. Please note, you will continue to use your FTP password.
