Microsoft 365 Business vs Enterprise: Everything You Need to Know

November 4, 2022 in Latest News, Shinjiru All, Shinjiru Tip Sharing by Nadhira ZA

Microsoft 365, or previously known as Office 365, is a well-known and reliable set of cloud-based programmes and services. It contains a lot of features that can increase your company’s efficiency.

Microsoft has two different pricing tiers for its 365 service for business: Microsoft 365 Business and Microsoft 365 Enterprise. Although the two have many similarities, there are some distinctions that may affect how you work.

In today’s writing, we will learn how those two are different from one another.

#1 Features

Both Microsoft 365 Business and Microsoft 365 Enterprise have unique feature sets that are appropriate for various business types.

  • Mail Size

The Microsoft 365 Enterprise plan has much greater email storage space than the Microsoft 365 Business plan. In contrast to the Business plan, which offers 50 GB of storage, the Enterprise plan allows its users access to a bigger mailbox size of 100 GB and unlimited archive storage.

With the Enterprise package, members also get business-class email hosting and a personalised email address.

  • CAL Rights for On-Premises

The on-premise CAL (Client Access Licence) rights are another significant distinction between the two plans. Users of Microsoft 365 Enterprise are provided with the ECAL suite, allowing them to run servers locally for the likes of Exchange, SharePoint, Skype, Windows, etc.

  • Business Intelligence and Analytics

In contrast to Microsoft 365 Business, Microsoft 365 Enterprise offers a variety of business information and analytics solutions. The Advanced Excel, Delve Analytics, and Power BI Pro tools offered by the Enterprise plan enable users to execute analytical activities, organise data, and visualise it on an one platform.

Thus, Microsoft 365 Enterprise might be useful for any business doing complex analytical tasks.

  • Other Available Features in Microsoft 365 Enterprise

This includes Skype for Business and litigation hold that works to archive mailbox on hold as well as Intune, mobile management tool used to access data and apps.

#2 Amount of Users

The number of users offered is the main distinction between the two plans. While Microsoft 365 Enterprise can be used and shared by an unlimited number of users, Microsoft 365 Business can only be used and shared by up to 300 people.

That makes the Enterprise plan suitable for larger companies, whilst the Business plan is a solution created for small and expanding organisations.

#3 Market Price

Before buying Microsoft 365 Malaysia, every company would weigh the two options’ prices as the key distinction between them. Microsoft 365 Business is less expensive than Microsoft 365 Enterprise, although sharing the same core features.

The base cost of the Business plan is between RM20 and RM90, while the cost of the Enterprise plan is between RM30 and RM200.

Therefore, the Business plan would be the best choice for anyone who only wants to use the core features of Microsoft 365.

#4 Account Security

On top of all that, the most crucial step is to ensure your account can always be safe and sound.

Microsoft 365 Business has data protection with Advanced Threat Protection (ATP) but the Enterprise plan surely offers bigger deals. With it, users can have Microsoft Advanced Threat Analytics, Device Guard, Credential Guard, App Locker and Enterprise Data Protection in one bundle.
