KUALA LUMPUR 17 November 2020 – Shinjiru Technology Sdn Bhd (Shinjiru) embarks on yet another corporate social responsibility (CSR) project with the contribution of electronic devices to the National Elephant Conservation Centre Kuala Gandah (PKGK).

Shinjiru Chief Technology Officer, Shaun Lim said, a volunteer from the non-governmental organisation (NGO) called upon the sponsorship of desktop computers and laptops to help them accomplish tasks such as documentation, reporting duties and communicate their activities more effectively.

“When they reached out for help, one of our managers responded immediately with a list of equipment that are used, but still functional for them to carry out their duties.

“We hope our small contribution can make a difference in their noble efforts. Shinjiru is always open to meaningful sponsorships like this and help contribute to their cause,” added Shaun.

Shaun spoke after handing over five desktop computer sets and three laptops with Intel Core i3 processors to PKGK Senior Officer, Nazrul Mamat at Shinjiru office in Taman Desa, here on Friday.

Since the setting up of PKGK in 1989, it has either rescued or relocated some 900 wild elephants from areas where their natural habitat is under threat from human encroachment and releasing them in protected jungle reserves where they can roam freely.

Nazrul said that the computers will be put to good use especially with one of their many tasks that includes regular updates of the elephants’ morphological data report while they track and monitor the animals out in the field.

“We are so grateful when Shinjiru contacted us to inform that they have some equipment to spare and help us out. The desktop computers will be placed at the office while the laptops can be used during external activities by our personnel,” added Nazrul.

Although the Centre is funded by the Malaysian Government’s Department of Wildlife and National Parks, donations are welcome to finance the upgrading of facilities. With around 30 elephants in residence, each eating 50-100 kilos of food per day the costs are relatively high.
